Congratulations Future Champions Skaters!! (Dec 2003)

The Greater Cleveland Council of FSCs would like to congratulate the local skaters that medaled in USFSA's Future Champion Series. Novice Men, third place - Cory Helffrich (Winterhurst FSC), Intermediate Men, tied for first place - Victor Travis (Pavilion SC), Juvenile Boys, third place - Paul Shapiro (Mentor FSC), Juvenile Pairs, tied for second place - Marjorie Iwler/Ben Vincent (Euclid Blade & Edge FSC/Pavilion SC), Juvenile Dance, first place - Jaime Mariage/Matthew Witt (Strongsville SC/Winterhurst FSC).

Tim Goebel @ World Championships (Mar 2003)

The Greater Cleveland Council of FSC's would like to congratulate Timothy Goebel for a wonderful 2003 World Championships that took place in Washington, DC on March 24 - 30th. Tim represents the Winterhurst FSC and did an outstanding job and placed 2nd to Evgeni Plushenko. Actually there were a lot of us that thought he should have placed 1st, so watch out for him next year!

Lindsey Weber @ Midwestern Sectionals (Jan 2003)

A belated congratulations to Lindsey Weber of the Winterhurst FSC, Lindsey was the alternate from the Midwestern Sectional Championships and due to a withdrawal from Angela Lien who decided to compete in the World University Games, Lindsey competed in the Senior Ladies division at the U.S. National Championships in Dallas, Texas in January and placed 13th.

Pavilion Skaters @ Chautauqua (Feb 2003)

Congratulations to Brittany Barnwell, Mackenzie Laudel, Katherine Huntley-Bachers and Kassie Kobzowicz from Pavilion SC who competed very successfully at Chautauqua Winter Games in Jamestown NY, bringing home a whole pile of Medals!! Full Results are posted on competition website

Pennington Brothers (Jan 2003)

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships were extremely successful for Parker and Colin Pennington. Colin is following in his brother's footsteps by winning the gold medal in the Novice Men's event. Colin has been invited to the Gardena Spring Trophy in Ortisei, Italy on March 27-31, 2003.

Parker placed 6th in the Senior Men's event and has been invited to compete in the 2003 U.S. World Junior Championships on February 24-March 2, 2003 in the Czech Republic. Congratulations to both of you and good luck at your International competitions

Parker Pennington (Dec 2002)

The Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to again send their congratulations to Parker Pennington. Parker earned a bronze medal at the ISU Junior Grand Prix finals in the Hague Netherlands. Parker was the only US man to medal at the competition.

Sectionals Competitors (Nov 2002)

The Greater Cleveland Council would like to congratulate area skaters that have qualified for the 2003 National Championships in Dallas, Texas on January 12 - 19. At the Eastern Sectional Championships in Acton, PA on November 13 - 16, Parker Pennington won the Sr. Men's title and his brother Colin was the bronze medalist in the Novice Men's division. Parker and Colin train at the Winterhurst FSC.

At the Midwestern Sectional Championships in Nashville, TN on November 14 - 16, Hilary Gibbons along with Justin Pekarek won the Sr. Dance title. Hilary is a former member of the Winterhurst FSC and her father Joseph was the former President of the Winterhurst FSC. Hilary's mother is the current President of the Shaker FSC

Parker Pennington (Nov 2002)

The Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to send their congratulations to Parker Pennington. Parker placed 2nd in the Junior Grand Prix Series in Milan, Italy on October 30 - November 3, 2002. There were 29 competitors in the Men's division and they represented many different nations

Regionals Competitors (Oct 2002)

The Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to congratulate the skaters

from Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships that have qualified to move on to the Midwest Sectionals and the U.S. Jr. Figure Skating Championships.

Skaters qualifying for the Midwest Sectional Championships in Nashville, TN, November 14-16th are: Novice Dance ? 3rd Kristen Mendoza, Winterhurst FSC and Joshua Lea, Garfield Hts. FSC. 5th - Erika Weeks, Detroit SC and Daniel Dittrick, Pavilion SC of Cleveland Hts.

Skaters qualifying for the U.S. Jr. Figure Skating Championships in Lake Placid, NY December 10-14th are: Intermediate Men ? 4th, Victor Travis, Pavilion SC of Cleveland Hts. Intermediate Dance ? 2nd Lauren Chrien and Stuart Lange, Cleveland SC. 3rd Ann Hulme, Cleveland SC and Daniel King, Winterhurst FSC. Juvenile Boys ? 3rd Eric Groth, Winterhurst SC. Juvenile Dance ? 4th Gianna Katsaros, Strongsville SC and Daniel Witt, Winterhurst FSC

The Council would also like to send along congratulations to the former Winterhurst FSC members that qualified for Easterns in Amherst, NY November 20-23 from the North Atlantic Regional Championships. Parker and Colin Pennington continue to train at Winterhurst

Parker Pennington (Sep 2002)

Parker Pennington placed 2nd in the Junior Grand Prix series at Scottsdale, Arizona this past weekend, September 19-23, 2002. Skaters representing 26 nations competed. This competition was one of the eight planned in the JGP International Series. Way to go Parker!

Kristen Mendoza and Joshua Lea (Aug 2002)

Congratulations to Kristen Mendoza of the Winterhurst FSC and Joshua Lea of the Garfield Heights. FSC on finishing third and winning the bronze medal at the Novice International Dance Competition in Lake Placid, NY on Friday, August 2nd. Kristen and Josh are also the US Silver Medalists Intermediate at the 2001 US Junior Nationals.

The Cleveland Skating Office and all of our local clubs would like to congratulate Parker Pennington on his 1st place finish at the 2002 Spring Gardena Trophy in Ortisei, Italy on March 27-31, 2002. Great job Parker!

Walter Horton / Victoria Stanbridge (Apr 2002)

Congratulations to Walt Horton of the Shaker FSC and Victoria Stanbridge of the Greenbrier FSC for placing third in the Midwestern Adult Championship Dance event. Walt and Victoria qualified for the Adult Nationals to be held in Ann Arbor, MI. Good luck to both of you!

Tim Goebel (March 2002)

The Winterhurst Figure Skating Club and the Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to congratulate Timothy Goebel on his silver medal at the 2002 World Figure Skating Championships in Nagano, Japan. What a year for Tim, first an Olympic bronze medal and now a World silver medal! Everyone is so excited and happy for Tim. Tim trained at the Winterhurst FSC for 10 years and although he now resides in California for his training he still represents his longtime club Winterhurst.

Joyce Fijalkovich / Garey Dye (Feb 2002)

Congratulations to Joyce Fijalkovich, Brooklyn FSC and Garey Dye, Shaker FSC for qualifying for the US Adult Figure Skating Championships to be held in Ann Arbor, MI on April 3-6, 2002. Joyce placed 1st in the Ladies Championship Gold division. Karen Gasko of the Euclid Blade & Edge FSC was 6th. Garey Dye of the Shaker FSC placed 2nd in Championship Masters Men division and Scott Sheets from the Shaker FSC placed 5th.

Maggie (Pavilion SC), Nikki (Mentor FSC), and Ashley Rovansek (Mentor FSC) are shown as demonstrators of several elements on the Figure Skater's Website. Tim Goebel (Feb 2002)

CONGRATULATIONS TIM : OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST! The Winterhurst FSC and the Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to wish Timothy Goebel their heartiest congratulations on his bronze medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Everyone is Cleveland is very proud to have Tim represent us in the Games. The U.S. Jr. Figure Skating Championships took place this past week-end in Chicago, Illinois and the Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs would like to extend our congratulations to Kristen Mendoza of the Winterhurst FSC and Joshua Lea of the Garfield Hts. FSC for their silver medal performance in Intermediate Dance. Congratulations also go out to Victor Travis of the Pavilion SC for his silver medal in the Juvenile Boys division.
