Strongsville Skating Club Member, Matthew Nielsen won the Silver National Medal in the Intermediate Men’s event at the 2018 USFSA Championships which was held December 29 – January 7 in San Jose, California. Matthew is one of 12 from the entire country that vied for the Intermediate Men’s National Title. To get here, Matthew won the Intermediate Men’s Event at this year’s U.S. Figure Skating Eastern Great Lakes Regional Competition held in Antioch, Tennessee. Strongsville Skating Club had another extremely successful competition at the U.S. Figure Skating National Solo Dance Finals held at the University of Delaware, September 7-10, 2016. Strongsville Skating Club had 3 of its members qualify for the National Event: Leah Grieco, Giulia Paolino, and Eva Pate. Leah Grieco placed 5th in Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance. She is an 8th grader at Wadsworth Middle School. Giulia Paolino claimed a gold medal in Bronze Pattern Dance. She also earned a pewter medal in the Juvenile Combined event. The first class of the Teaching 2 B Teachers program has graduated. The 7-member class includes Marilena DeGennaro, Audrey Oleskiewicz, Claire Pritts, Frankie Rapposelli, Rebecca Saggio, Shannon Stanforth, and Grayson Zilich.
