The Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs is happy to be your host at the 2013 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships at Hoover Arena in Strongsville, Ohio. This facility is conveniently located off interstate 71 approximately 15 ­­­ to Ohio will be both rewarding and enjoyable.

DEADLINES

The entry deadline for the 2013 Midwestern Sectional Championships is 11:59 p.m., Sept. 1, 2012. The time zone of your primary residence/principle training center (juvenile, intermediate) or home club (novice, junior, senior) will determine the entry deadline of 11:59 p.m., Sept. 1, 2012. Registration entries must be submitted at www.usfsaonline.org.

 

OFFICIAL ICE ARENA

The 2013 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships will be held at Hoover Arena, 15381 Royalton Road, Strongsville, OH 440-268-2800. This facility, which opened in 2002, has two NHL sized ice surfaces. Both rinks are 85' x 200' with rounded corners and will be used for official and unofficial practice ice and pre-event ice. IceLand features 13 full size locker rooms, a pro shop, a full service café and a video arcade.

 

 

REGISTRATION

Due to the short preparation time available, ALL confirmation times and event notifications will be done by website posting. See www.clevelandskating.com for more information.

 

The official registration desk will be located at Hoover Arena and will open Thursday, November 8, thirty minutes prior to the first scheduled practice each day thereafterand will remain open one hour following a competition event.  More specific hours will be posted on the website.

 

 

 

AWARDS  

Medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers in each event and trophies will be awarded to the first place winner. All medalists should appear dressed in their competitive costumes with skates for the award ceremony. Check the bulletin board for award schedule and location.

 

ADMISSIONS

The 2013 Midwestern Sectional Championships will be open to the public. All-event passes are available for $35 and daily tickets for $15/day. (Children 5 and under are free; All Seniors 65 and over are $25/$10)   See Form C for details.

PRACTICE ICE

Unofficial practice ice will begin on Thursday, November 8, 2012 on both ice surfaces.  Official Practice Ice will begin on Friday, November 9, 2012.  The number of sessions varies based on level and discipline.  See Form A for details.

 

Music will be played only on each skater’s designated official practice (s).

 

 A 20-minute practice on the day of each event entered is included in the official ice package (music will not be played on these sessions). Depending on the schedule, official practices and/or pre-event practices will likely take place on the secondary surface. The chief referee schedules official and pre-event practice schedules. Official ice packages are available for purchase.

 

  • All Single Free Skating (except Juvenile Free Skate) include two 20-minute pre-event practices and two 30-minute official practice ice sessions. Cost for a singles competitor is $80.

 

  • Juvenile Free Skate events include one 20-minute pre-event practice and one 30-minute official practice ice session. Cost for Juvenile Free Skate competitor is $40.

 

  • All Dance events and Novice through Senior Pairs events include two 20-minute pre-event practices and two 30-minute official practice ice sessions. Cost for each competitor is $80 ($160 per team).

 

  • Juvenile and Intermediate Pairs events include one 20-minute pre-event practice and one 30-minute official practice ice session. Cost for each pair competitor is $40 ($80 per team).

 

UNOFFICIAL PRACTICE ICE

The LOC will run 30-minute unofficial practice sessions.

 

Cost is $15 per 30-minute session per skater. Dance and Pair teams are $30 per team. Skaters may pre-order up to 1 session per discipline. Deadline for purchasing Unofficial Practice Ice is October 31, 2012.  The unofficial ice purchased in advance, will be schedule prior to the first competition segment of the skater.  Additional practice ice must be purchased only at the official Practice Ice Desk upon arrival and throughout the competition.   Practice ice fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.  Music will not be played on unofficial practice ice sessions.

 

SOUVENIR PROGRAM AND PIN

The 2013 Midwestern Sectional Championships LOC will have both Souvenir Programs and trading pins

available for pre-order or purchase at the event (limited availability at the event). Pre-order information for both is available on Form C.

 

Be sure to fill out your own personal information on the Program Information Request Form D1  and/or Form D2  and submit all information electronically to smrego@aol.com.  All photos must be labeled with the skater’s first and last name and event level. Deadline for pairs and dance teams is October 1.  Singles skaters’ deadlines are 48 hours after your regional event is over

 

Photos must be submitted by e-mail in the following format:

PROGRAM ADVERTISING

Businesses, skating clubs, individuals are all encouraged to purchase ads in the program, whether to promote your product or just to wish the skaters good luck. See Form E for details.

VIDEOGRAPHY

The Event Video Company (EVC) will serve as the official videographer for all U.S. Figure Skating qualifying competitions for the 2013 competition season. EVC will provide professional videotaping services for all events.  Please note: videotaping of the competition, including practice ice, in any form is strictly prohibited per U.S. Figure Skating policy.
