STARS is coming to Cleveland

Posted by on May 18, 2016 in Training Camps | Comments Off on STARS is coming to Cleveland

Become a better athlete as you become a better skater– participate in S.T.A.R.S. (Standardized Testing of Athleticism to Recognize Skaters)!

S.T.A.R.S. is a new system of off-ice fitness assessment and development designed to support U.S. Figure Skating’s existing testing and competition progressions. Its development is based primarily on the need to promote robust, all-around fitness in young American skaters; to push and maintain the athletic ability curve ahead of the skills curve; to ensure that young figure skaters are physically prepared to handle the introduction of new, more complex and more demanding skating skills; and to reduce the potential for injury typically sustained during the training of these new skills.

STARS will be in Cleveland on June 11, 2016 at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 1 Monticello Boulevard, Cleveland Heights, OH, 44118. The cost is only $49.00. STARS is open to all current U.S. Figure Skating members who are at least 6 years old, have passed at least the pre-preliminary Moves in the Field test, and are free from illness or injuries.

Register at https://fs12.formsite.com/USFSAIT/form1449/index.html but hurry. Registration closes on May 28.

For more information, visit the STARS page on the USFS website.

Posted by on Apr 14, 2016 in Fundraisers | Comments Off on Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation – Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer

We are posting this on behalf of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.

Dear Friends,

You may have heard, The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation has launched Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer, our signature fundraiser nationwide! Rinks, clubs, and supporters have been partnering with Scott in his mission to Turn Cancer Upside Down through the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. We are thrilled to introduce you to our fun, exciting, and easy way to be a part of our mission by hosting a Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Fundraiser.

Our founder, Scott Hamilton, is no stranger to the ice. Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer has been created to provide a way we can use our time and talents to raise awareness and funds for the next cancer patient.

Each successful Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Fundraiser needs:

  • A Host: An organization or team of individuals who are communicating with the Scott CARES staff on peer-to-peer fundraising and the organized on ice celebration.
  • An Ice Rink: Ice is the unique part of this signature fundraiser for Scott CARES. The on ice celebration can be held during a regular public session or when the ice time is available.
  • Volunteer Fundraisers: participants who join us in raising funds through our customized website.

Won’t you be a part? By hosting a Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer fundraiser, you are joining this alliance and helping Scott by Turning Cancer Upside Down!

Our staff is equipped to provide you with the necessary tools and details to host this fundraiser from the day you commit to hosting through the completion of the on ice. If you have any questions on how you and your facility can join, please let me know.

Thank you for being a part of this exciting time for Scott CARES.
