(Cleveland, OH) Inspired by the skating and academic achievements of Carol Heiss Jenkins & Hayes Jenkins, Cleveland Championships 2000, producers of the 2000 and 2009 US Figure Skating Championships, today launched the Carol & Hayes Jenkins Scholarship Grant. This annual grant will be awarded to a local skater who has excelled in athletic and academic achievements, and who is graduating from high school with plans to attend college in the next six months.
Carol Heiss Jenkins competed in Ladies singles, becoming the 1956 Olympic silver medalist, 1960 Olympic champion, five-time World champion, and four-time U.S. National Champion. During this unprecedented winning streak Carol attended New York University.
Hayes Jenkins competed in Men’s singles, becoming the 1956 Olympic champion, four-time World champion, and four-time U.S. National champion. Hayes attended Colorado College and Harvard Law School.
“Hayes and I are thrilled to have a scholarship named after us that supports local figure skaters quest to continue their education”, said Carol Heiss Jenkins. Jenkins added, “we believe education is the foundation to achieving goals and enjoying a well-balanced life.”

Applicants must be a current member of a figure skating club associated with the Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs. Applications are due by May 31, 2021.
